Thermal Carafes and Thermoses (Thermi???)

We like our Zojirushi thermos, when we need to keep it warm off the stove.  I boil water and let it steep in the thermos before pouring coffee into it.  Makes the difference.
Also like newegg.com for ease of order, quick shipping:
Used at the house:

The Czarina takes this one to the office:

Fed Ex delivered the thermal carafe this morning.  It definitely keeps the coffee hot, but the pour is soooooooooo slow.  Makes sense now that I look at it that that very narrow spout was probably designed not to let heat out, but....has anyone else found this frustrating?
I may swap it out for the thermos, knowing then I can just drop the top off and P O U R .....
Any suggestions before I act too hastily???  Is there a trick I'm not onto?

I don't have a Zorji carafe, but some that I have require you to push a button to allow the contents to flow...

Maybe the lid has to be cracked 1/2 a turn open?

That's it for suggestions from me! :)

Hey Susan,

If you look here:

http://www.zojirushi.com/ourproducts/carafes/ahgb_10se.html

You will see the Zojirushi web site showing that you can turn the top.  I would imagine like Stubbie suggested that the slight twist of this knob will allow more air in and speed up the flow rate of the pour.

Let us know if that works for you.

Thanks guys.
That turn does make it flow, but it only seems to me to adjust it from NO flow to LOW flow.
I'll check it out again this morning.

Otherwise I think it will go back and I will go back to setting my various glass coffee makers into pots of just simmering water.
It's the method I've used with my Chemex and my French Press over the years.

I seem to have gotten a bit overly acquisitive this past week or so, and maybe sending it back will be as good for my soul as for my pocketbook.

Okay, stammer blush..... :-[   :-[   :-[
I think it was ME.

I am used to pouring out of pitchers that simply do not have to be tipped so very far over to get the liquid to come out.
When I just now filled it with water and tipped it steeply it poured just fine.

Sorry to overload you all with chatter.

Reminds me of a class I was in a couple years back, in the midst of acquiring my degree in Culinary Arts.  We had a very upscale restaurant on the 6th floor where the cooking labs were, and one of the classes was split between preparing the food for 8 weeks and then spending 8 weeks in the front of the house.  Well, the instructor in the restaurant side decided that the coffee carafes weren't insulated well enough so bought all new SS ones.  But they dribbled like crazy until they were tipped far enough.  So if your pour was tentative, as most nervous students were, the white linen tablecloths and whatever else got in the way got turned brown, while our faces got turned red.

The trials and tribulations of new technology.  So does that mean you like the pitcher now?

The jury is still out.  I am going to keep it, but I won't know for a bit exactly how much I like it.

I think if I had purchased it from Amazon I might return it.  Since I purchased it from NewEgg and they charge a 15% restocking fee I'm going to keep it and decide later.   How's that for how it all works.

I've got about a cup of very lovely Chemex/Bodum Gold Filter/Brazil Morenhina sitting in it right now, and....that's a plus.   I am guessing that I am going to be pleasantly pleased that I have held onto it.

Well, about that price.... ???
The day I pulled the trigger on it it was $17.99.  A day I actually received it, I went back to look at the website and it was $15.99.  And since you mentioned the "good price", I went to look, and now it's $27.99.....Very unstable....
Oh well, glad I got it for the $17.99 anyway....

Yeah ... it sounds like the web price of our airlines here in Canada ... if you check a certain flight 10 times you will see 10 different prices.
