Cafe Solo Brewer

Has anybody tried this, and do you like it or not?  I usually use a French Press and I found this which seems similar, but definitely more expensive.

Searching "Cafe Solo" on the main page gets you THIS THREAD.

I've tasted a cup brewed with it and while it was good, it just seems like a glorified (and much more expensive) French Press to me...

Two years ago, several of us were at Intelli's in Chi-town for a day of learning.  The Cafe Solo was up against 3 other presentations.  In my tastings, it finished dead last of the four.  For me, it was like a heavy French press taste.  While I enjoy a French press, there were even more particulates in the coffee.  It seemed a bit flat compared to a press pot but there were a lot of variables that were going on that may have detracted from it.

8oz. capacity?  That wouldn't even get your first eyelid open.

Maybe it's for coffee ceremony style..

If we sit around and talk for an hour or two and have several cups.

But otherwise you are correct, 8oz servings would only work for me if I was on Dr's orders to lower caffeine intake. Then it might even be an acceptable method of doing so.
