There are over 100 beans (on average) in a shot?

That is wild.....I've never considered it. 18g's doesn't look like that many beans.   :-X

I was going to say that "I always knew Larry was a few beans shy of a double," but then I thought better as it doesn't pay to bite the hand that sends you the green...

Now that was freakin' funny!

So, do you count beans often? Is that a form of OCD. ;D

Sorry I was a bit slow responding, I was busy counting all the beans in my roast jars. ;-)

I don't know when I counted how many beans made up 10gms but I've used it as a rule of thumb for a while now. Somebody should do a double-check. I'm feeling guilty that I might be leading someone astray with that rule of thumb guesstimate so I'm going to break out the .1gm kitchen scale right now and count up 100 beans, will report back shortly.

Well it looks like I've got a new rule of thumb:

100 Koke beans = 11.8gms
100 BUF Cafe beans = 12.2gms

I looked up at the Dukundekawa, Senhora de Fatima and Amaro Gayo sitting in their jars and figured I'd gone far enough. With a statistical sampling of two, the new rule of thumb is:

100 beans = 12gms

;-)

100 beans = 12gms

I would not have guessed that by looks alone.

We never leave beans in the grinder. Weigh only for espresso or vac pot .

I just made a pot of Yemen Mocha Sanani i tried to count them but there are to many 1/8s, 1/4s, 1/2s. pea berry, flat ones and a rock.

Another Variable failure.   Tastes good , I guess I will force down another  ;D

Why would anyone use a grinder to store beans?     ;)
