I am a sponsor at $51. Thought we would play Monty Hall and have a traveling road show. Here are the basics:
1. No money now. Item will ship Jan/Feb 2014.
2. $5.35 to play (pay in mid-October).
3. Gets you one week to play with it before you need to ship to next person.
4. You have a one in ten chance of winning it as I will ask Jim Spain's wife to randomly pick a number.
5. The winning number goes to the back of the line and gets to keep the cold brewer.
Other cold brewers have never sparked an interest for me. I like this one because:
1. It's on Kickstarter and love the spirit of the effort.
2. Borosilicate glass and silicone rings (food grade).
3. Uses aeropress filters.
4. Makes a concentrate sufficient for 5 cups of coffee.
Post here if interested and you are sure you will be in when this hits my credit card in mid-October. That is when I will ring your bell for the $5.35.
Who be interested?

Count me in.
-
Not a huge fan of cold brew, but I like the look of that thing. I'm in.
-
...I'm just not that into cold brew, I much prefer to hot brew into ice...
I am going the other way with it. It is concentrate so I will use it with 207* water.

I am going the other way with it. It is concentrate so I will use it with 207* water.
My main issue with it is the smallish output for the way that I use concentrate. Because I don't feel reconstituting the concentrate makes a viable cup of hot coffee, I only use the concentrate for iced coffee, and for that I'd like to have a large batch on hand that will last all week; that's a lot of planning ahead to do for a cup of joe 14hrs. down the road.
Sorry for the thread-crap. I like the overall Bruer design, and think it's well thought out.

I'm in. I need a way to get rid of all the Aeropress paper filters I have. I don't use them since buying the Able metal filter.
Or maybe I should wait a year or two until Dave put this up for sale since it is collecting dust in his new home.
Too long of a wait, I am still in.

Me either, but the law of averages state that eventually ...

I haven't played in one of these in a while! I would like to give it a go
-
Despite the Warden's dump, we are progressing. 5 to go.
-
Ok, I'm in.
Like I didn't know?
-
Looks cool, simple design. I am looking forward to read reviews.
Too bad I can not ramp up interest for the road shows here in Canada. Not everyone has the Bold charisma.
Thank you Dave for doing this from us, bystanders.

4 to go. Who has the yearn but needs help in getting $5.35 out of your pocket?
-
Dave,
Patti wants to test drive the cold brewer!! So, add us to the play list! You'll need to find another "number puller" to avoid any questions of Patti picking her own number! I'm not the cold coffee drinker in this cabin, Patti is! ;)
-
Bro' Spain joins the fold. 3 more lucky entrants - you know who you are...
-
I'm curious. Count me in.

I tried making my own with the aeropress and failed miserably. I'll give it a go to try cold drip concentrate, please sign me up! Withold me from the drawing, please :)
-
Our odds just picked up to 1-9. Jano is, no draw. Well, we are down to...
-
OK will give it a go
-
Thanks Ray. Folks, entries are closed. Stay tuned.

Update from this morning's email:
"Pre-order option. For those who missed out on the campaign, or have friends wanting a Cold Bruer, we have setup a pre-order option at bruer.co at a discounted $55 + shipping. Credit cards will only be charged once we ship your order. Pre-orders will ship after we deliver all the Kickstarter rewards."
Interesting choice on the coffee they have in the prototypes. No, I didn't ask them to use the Kochere <grins>. Don't you dare roast those from my distribution that darkly.

Looks like they've started shipping, have you gotten any confirmations back on this yet?
Slow -- they gave me an opportunity to update my address. No confirmation yet. As soon as I receive it, I will shout.
-
I am following up with Bruer. On March 7, they asked for current address. No word since.

Thanks for patience folks. Update from Bruer:
"Hey guys,
Here’s a quick update on shipping. So far we have shipped about 800 Cold Bruers to our backers. We are handling final assembly, packing, and processing here at our office In Santa Cruz. We are a small team and It has been taking us a little longer than we expected. However, everyday we are getting faster and are able to ship more and more Cold Bruers. Now we can ship around 200 each day (that just about fills up the Fedex truck).
Using Cold Bruer is simple, but we made a short video to help you out just in case:
CB Demo 4 21 on Vimeo (http://vimeo.com/89885870) If you have any more questions about set-up send us an E-mail, Tweet, or ask us on Facebook.
Thank you all so much for your patience and support!
Andy & Gabe"

Still no word from Bruer, though they state on Kickstarter, all pledged units shipped.
I emailed them for reminder this morning and will update when I hear from them.

Looks like they are working on a roaster if you look at the whiteboard in that video...

They clearly slipped up. Sent me a post-dated tracking notification from Fedex. Bruer left California last night and is headed to the heartland.

Bruer in the house. Pics pending. Want to try it side by side with the same coffees this week, to include a concentrated amount for Americanos once I get the ratios correct.

Patti said, "Dumb computer!"
Looking forward to the trail run! Probably will grab one if it passes muster....?
-
My apologies all. My bad. <insert blushing, humbled expression>.
The machine came while we had company and I put it away, and with that, forgot about it! Yikes.
Out of the closet and onto the counter for an afternoon set-up. 1st look to follow.
-
Well, after two weeks, haven't touched this. Between the boys coming in and life in general, no spare time. I am shipping this today to Brother Sheridan and maybe he can give it a good "1st look." Apologies all.

Any more insights in the Bruer guys?

It went on to CFSheridan, who was about to leave for Hawaii for a week. Jinxed.
I shot Chad a PM.
-
Sorry folks. My testing will start this weekend, and I'll ship it off in about a week or so. I was unable to get the shipping logistics together before I left for vacation.

Any update on this? Prime weather for cold brewing. Chad?

Thanks.

Not to sweat it. CFS will come through.

Sorry guys, will send it on this weekend.

Arrived yesterday. I will start testing today.
-
Arrived yesterday (Friday 8/12/2014).
Opened the Cold Breur this morning to begin my week of testing.
Great day to test, supposed to rain all day.
But the jingle-jangle that I heard when I lifted the box told me I was not going to be happy when I got it opened.
Yep, the jingle-jangle was broken glass!

Looks like the point of impact may have been the outside edge of the packing box. Nice work by Fedex.
Not sure what the next step here needs to be.
Anyone got a suggestion?

I will update with more details as they become available.

HC4U reports the brewer is headed to Yakster next.
-
Yep. On it's way!
-
Chris,
Shipment isn't here yet. Tracking has been changed from Yesterday to Monday! Slow boat from China! :o
-
Thank you for the great review Chris. This road show had so many bumps, and you are the saviour.
-
Chris,
The cold brewer just pulled up in the drive! I'll give her a few brews this week and then move her on to Jano! She made it here and appears to be in great shape. jim
-
The first brew is in process! Very simple and Patti loves cold brew..... We'll see?
-
Bruer just posted a Kahlua recipe on their blog here (http://www.bruer.co/blogs/news/15904476-cold-brew-kahlua-recipe). I'd love to hear how this turns out.
Chris,
I have not tried that recipe but I just fixed a cold brew with Bailey's Irish Cream and vanilla creamer for Patti and she loved it. I had a sip and must admit it was excellent!
I'll be shipping this out on Thursday when I head to town to the next person! Jim
-
Chris,
I'm excited to see how the Tiamo compares. I just couldn't pass up the big savings with the tiamo from OE.
My review of the Bruer is short, read Chris'. Leaving all kidding aside. I made 4 brews with the cold dripper. I found it VERY EASY to use and clean. I followed the directions and di no variations with great results. I only used wet processed coffee. No bitterness, very smooth prep, with great results. It did give me the nudge to grab a cold brewer even if it isn't the Bruer. I found the drip control to be no trouble and easy to adjust.
The Roadshow heads to Jano on Thursday after 10 days of use. Got his address today!
-
Heading to Jano today!
I enjoyed the cold bruer! It made up my mind to buy a cold bruer for the cabin here at Patti's Park!
This model is simple, easy to use, and produced an excellent cup of cold brew! I just followed the enclosed directions. Very easy to clean!
-
Arrived undamaged yesterday, a day early. Thanks, Jim!
I'll play with it and ship out sometime next week.

Glad it made it safely!

PM sent to Shep, the winner, ready to move on! Someone somewhere along the line seems to have included a baratza burr cleaning brush... to whom does it belong? What's it for with this product?
I don't really like cold brewed coffee; all forms I've tried, have this sourness to them that I find unpleasant, that, and the caffeine jolt is usually too strong for my system; it's mitigated with lots of sugar or some form of real/fake dairy. I only drink it if I'm stranded in a hotel which doesn't have a way to make hot water, in order to avoid the caffeine headache.
That said - really nice glass, a quality constructed product, which creates a clean brew. Size expectations: originally thought it was going to be wider and squat, but it's smaller, taller, and skinnier. The idea of the overall design is great, however, doesn't seem to be compatible with a klutz like me.
I do not like the bottom gasket thingy, when removing/installing, always felt like I was going to break the glass. The top portion was also a little awkward to hold, to set it down after removing it, and then keep it somewhere until the next brew -- initially I used the lid and turned the top upside down, but then.. I couldn't cover and put away the karaffe. Almost as if it needs just one more piece, or I guess you just store the whole thing assembled in the fridge *shrug*.
When doing the hot pre-infusion method, the resulting condensation made it difficult to see and measure the drops; I missed yakster's note, about setting the drip rate before starting the brew process. Duh. Hot pre-infusion left me with over-extracted bitterness in the cup, despite having ground coarsely. Second brew was done at same grind and drip without preinfuse, and had no bitterness.
And cleaning, well, ended up with wet coffee grounds all over. This item isn't for me.
Thanks for letting me play :)
-
Looking forward to getting it and comparing the results to that of my Hario Mizudashi. It makes what I consider a very nice cold brew. I had a glass today...with a bit of Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream...yummy!
I will let you know how the two compare.
