But is it a 'true' technivorn or a 'not quite up to the quality standards' as the real one.  Just like you can find weber grills at walmart for a fraction of the price, because they are slightly different than the 'real' ones you can buy from the manufacturer, and are not built to nearly the same standards.

Why would a brand short change themselves that much, something is very different with it I am suspecting, besides the language it is in.

Yes, it cost me $78 shipped - seems worth the price to me.  I took the bottom cover off to look at the heating coil - it is similar to the one in the new Bodum auto drip I got to try a while back - functionally the shape and design, but the copper boiler inside this machine is noticeably larger.

To get the same functionality of the famed Technivorm at a budget price ... that's a steel!

I think you bought an excellent maker at 1/4th the cost with as good or better internals.  The DE and TV combined listing promotes a 10-year warranty vs the standard 2-yr TV warranty.  You don't offer that with compromised parts.

I thought it was too but the base and the tower supporting the water reservoir are metal coated with white paint.

Here are some refurbed KBT-741's for $150 shipped.  Feedback on the one sold stated that it appeared to have never been used.

This is a great price - looks like he has seven left now - they are going fast!

I didn't think about it till I looked at the photo of the label on the bottom of my machine - the label is in English, not Dutch - is this the case with other Technivorm machines? Seems like an unusual language choice for a 220v machine...

Could be a unit originally destined for Australia.  They have 220v.
