This big bruiser is now in the Sonofresco league and will most likely reflect that in the price.

If that's the case I think I'd rather have the Sono.  I just don't buy that a 1kg roaster powered by a 15 amp 110 circuit will have the necessary oomf.  :-\  I'd love to be wrong about that (Coming up on 4 years with my HT :) )

with all the bells and whistles, and the potential for commercial application (small shops), north of $5K, maybe $6!

1500 watts will never roast a kilo in under 16 minutes. Call it a 1lb roaster for 3k.

saw this and  started salivating.

i had just ordered parts for my type B and had an email from hottop so i asked about the new one. and got this

"Tim, the production model should be available in 3-4 months and the price is
around $5,800
Michael "

paying 2000-2500 would be a  giant stretch for me given i am the only coffee drinker in the house but i find myself  lusting  after that thing. but 5800??? yikes

+1

A whole bunch cheaper and capable of profile roasting, data logging, fan control, and temperature control with the TC4C board.

dang, 4x the capacity (eventho it may not be able to do that) but at 6x the price.  Hate to
think what it'd cost for their 2kg roaster...

MUCH cheaper to run an extra circuit to the patio and buy another B model and run
them side by side.

And we still don't know how they're getting stated capacity from stated wattage.

I routinely roast 2lbs (0.9 kilo) on 1470 watts and have to dial it back to keep it from going too fast.

I roast 2 kilos with 3k watts and find that although it will go from 350 to second crack in a heartbeat it needs some serious power to get the beans from the bottom turn to 350.

Similarly I have a original ht. It was rated at 1/2 pound with 800 watts if I am not mistaken. I liked it best at around 200 grams. Again just my experience.

$5,800 Wow that is insane!! At that price I would opt for a gas roaster instead.
