The slow decline of my Rocky grinder
« on: July 20, 2015, 07:06:20 PM »
When I got my Rocky the only coffee forums around were CG and alt.

Alt. was pretty sketchy because you never knew if asking a question would result in an answer or a barrage of insults. So CG was the main game in town. At that time the Rocky was considered the bomb. I got one and never had any problems for years and some sets of burrs.

One day 2-3 years ago I noticed I was having to go tighter and tighter for espresso. Eventually I got to just 2 clicks from 0 to get my grind so I ordered new burrs. Same situation with new burrs and gradually had to go to 1.

The last year I'm basically turning my burrs until I'm hitting metal on metal and grinding on 0 to get my target.  :-\

I don't know what caused this but I've been fighting it a long time.

I've loved the Rocky with all my heart and there is no doubt it played a big part in changing my life....but I've gravitated away from espresso and pretty much pourover only due to this decline issue.

A few days ago I finally gave up so......

Boom!
