Craig's List - Las Vegas, NV: Gaggia Classic $125

I know nothing specific about this machine or seller. Caveat emptor!

The description is confusing: it either was just refurbed or it needs to be. Very simple machine to work on & parts are dirt cheap!

Tex,
Where's the cheapest place to pick up a solenoid valve for these?  All the places I've found are around $60-$70 plus shipping.  He says that it has a "weak solenoid valve"  ??? .  Does that make any sense or is he confusing it for something else?  By the way, he won't budge off $125.  Still a decent deal I think.  Especially if I can avoid replacing the valve.  Might try to have a look at it tonight.

3-way valve solenoids either work or don't work - there's no middle ground. I'd risk buying it and then do a bare to the bones cleaning of the boiler, 3-way, and OPV. After reassembly you'd most likely have a like-new machine. The solenoids are standard items, available at most parts suppliers.

http://shop.partsguru.com - http://www.cafeparts.com - http://www.espressoparts.com - and from Whole Latte Love.

If it was me, I'd get it; then PID it, replace the steam wand and tune it. It would make coffee equal to machines costing thousands more!

The guy is super hard to get a hold of.  Last I knew, he still had the machine but was in NYC for a few weeks and would get back with me when he returned.  Maybe I'll shoot him another email to see what's up.
