Since I haven't used even just a plain espresso machine, will instructions be included? Esp, how to use the pd?

I'm working on a set of instructions now that will address how to use it, clean it, and prepare it for shipping to the next person. I'll make them into a PDF and load them in the original post so everyone can download them.

Awesome! Thank you

For reasons that you can post after you've taken pictures, I'm putting you #1 on the list. ;D

I'm looking forward to getting feedback from folks who try the Gaggia. Good, bad, or indifferent, I'd like to see everyone's reactions posted to this thread.

Super cool idea. I'm interested to read evaluation notes from the testers.

Why not try it yourself, and match it against the Bamboo Gaggia?

I've got everything you are loading except the pid.

So for me all I would be testing is the pid and more accurately shots at different temps. For reasons not fully thought out yet I don't really need to do that testing at this point in my path..

What I hope to see is opinion of those with other machines and what they think..

OK.  Sign me up please.  It'll be interesting to put it up against my New Baby to see what the PID does for me.

You'll also be able to see the difference between the stock Gaggia steam wand and the Silvia.... assuming you haven't done that mod.

And the huge difference in stock & PID managed steam performance!

Wow!!  What a reason to say I need to get a grinder for espresso.  Then when the espresso machine has to leave you can imagine the next discussion

Something like;
"Gee sweetie, it's a real shame to let this espresso grinder go to waste,so why don't we look into getting a $2500 frou-frou toy."

"What's that honey, that's too much to take out of Jr's college fund? Well then, why don't I order a Gaggia Classic for only $399 and save us a bunch of money?"

Please add my name to the list too. I've been dying to find out how much difference the PID makes - I have rarely experienced espresso nirvana with my unmodded Gaggia Classic.

Tex, you can take my name off the list. I ordered the Auber PID kit for my Gaggia Classic last weekend.

Sorry I didn't mention this before, but this project fell through when the Gaggia I was to mod was no longer available.

Maybe some other time?
