I use 56-60 gram for a full10-cup pot.

So, here goes Tex tearing imto "my" Techinorm the same day he gets it! Voiding that 10 year extended warranty I gave him!  ;)

BTW, I'll get the scale out and let you know the weight on my heaping scoop.

I'm just trying to figure where to put the PID?

Still a few bugs to work out David, but I see nothing that'll halt production of the Texnivorm v1.

I tried 50 grams this morning and even Mrs T said it was weak, equating it to the coffee service she has at work. Next pot gets 65 grams - since she adds cream to any coffee, the stronger the better!

What's up with the guess work? Why not measure the water and weigh your coffee using a ratio you typically use for other methods? I tend to use a 15/1 or 16/1 ratio for most of prep methods. All this guessing seems out of character for you Tex.

Let's see... 16 grams per two ounce double would equate to... Wow, ~300 grams of ground coffee for a full pot (~1 1/4 liter of water)? That might be a bit too strong!

OK, I've settled in on 60 grams for a full 10 cup pot.

There was a rattling inside the machine when I got it, so being me I pulled the bottom plate for a look-see. I found what looks like a plastic clip/spacer. I finally located the TV parts diagram, but this piece wasn't shown.

I wonder if TV just had extra crap laying about and decided it was easier to put it in this coffee maker than to toss it in the trash? Hey, don't laugh - haven't you ever heard of the auto-worker who hung a nut inside a door panel just to see how long it'd take a service technician to find it?

edited: Anyone else but Jim and I'd suspect someone of slipping something inside just to see how long it'd take me to find it?

May have been something that wasn't part of the original design but was added later as a retrofit to fix an issue.  Pure speculation here, but there was a recall on the Bunn BTX brewers so when I picked mine up at the thrift store and found that the serial number matched the recall, I ordered the free parts to retrofit... only to find when I opened it up that it had already been installed.

A friend of my dad's once gave him a couple of walkie talkies to repair... they had lead weights inside, no electronics.

Another fun one was to take a quarter and superglue it to the cement shop floor.  The tricksters who tried this on me where upset when I kicked the coin free and pocketed it.

The best one was to charge an old-style auto ignition condenser and drop it on the floor for some dummy to pick up. Also heard of a shop owner who got tired of listening to his wife complain about wet toilet seats - he put one lead under the seat and grounded the other.

ZAP - OUCH!
