Yep, I have a few used/refurbished "E" models I have bought on CL. But < $400 is hard to come by.

The Newco's are almost twice as much now as I spent on my original ones.  I also thought I read somewhere that they are now made in China and the build quaility isn't quite what it used to be.

I think the OCS has always been made in China but at some point I think they switched factories. The AKH-AP I have is made in the US.

When they make a drip coffeemaker that stirs the grounds while brewing, I might be convinced that pourover quality can be matched by an automatic.  Until then, I will be very skeptical.   (...and content in my Cheepnis).

My AKH-AP delivers pulsing hot water from its sprayhead mixing the grounds with the resulting turbulance.

Very sexy!

It isn't mentioned in the spec sheets, but I have seen it!

Go to your nearest Tuesday Morning store and buy a brand new Capresso MT-500 for $ 99.

Funny you mention Tuesday Morning.  I live in a pretty small town and they just opened up a store (which I hadn't heard of before) 1/2 mile from my house.  Neat place.... they had some interesting stuff but I thought their prices were a bit steep for that type of store, but then again I'm not all that familiar with them other than doing a walk thru the other day.

I don't even know if they make them/sell them anymore, but I still like and haul out my MokaBrew when I need a quantity of coffee made without my hovering over it....Not only does it make great coffee, but it keeps conversation flowing....
