Deceptive pic but look at the eye of the pin....it's a pretty thin pour.

Early testing underway.

Very cool, Young John.

After a short time I had mine bent at a slight angle, so the eye would bend downward toward the coffee.

Simple, yet effective.

Here, wanted to make sure it was under the radar:

Went out last night and plunked down my whole 27¢ based on your recommendations.  I think it was worth it to upgrade my thrifted Betty Crocker work kettle.

Get a patent, and take it to market.

The use of chewing gum in wrapper is ingenious and sorta like a PID spout, the gum
expands if your water is too hot, contracts if too cold...  sorta like F1 "non-adjustable" wing technology.
Ferrari may have something to say about your patent...

I'm reviving an old thread to ask you guys who have used the cotter pin trick to tell me if this looks right.  Cotter pins come in all sizes and materials, so I grabbed this one, but it might be too small to do the job???

Looks right, how does it pour?

That's what I say; if it pours good, you're golden.  It's hard to get a scale for the size of the pin and kettle.  That pin looks big tho'...  JohnF was using the pin mod and liked it.

After I invented this (ahem, puffing out the chest)  ;D  I modded it by bending the loop of the cotter pin downward about 20 degrees.  But I don't think that's all that necessary.  You should be good like it is in the pic, but if you have a pliers handy, try bending the head of the cotter pin.

That was one of those ideas that really paid off big...  just a 20cent cotter pin and you can pour with the best of 'em.

My 2nd favorite mod of all time is the 'simple cotter pin on the big fat spout' mod.

Seriously.  Find a cotter pin, 1/8" thick, maybe 5/32"...  clip in on the spout right in the middle, and it'll pour like one of B|Jokeyman's expensive kettles.  Prolly better.
Peter,
So what is your 1st favourite mod?
I have just noticed this thread, and I will try to implement mod at work.
Thanks,
Miroslav

It's a tie between the AMR coilovers and the PSPEC shifter on my Accord.   8)

I will ahve that in mind as I also have Accord.  I expected it to be shelve holder for kone filter, another one of your more brilliant ideas.

It poured just perfectly this morning into my teapot when I wasn't trying to control the pour.  I will check it out with a pourover later today.

Peter, when I tried to bend mine forward it kinda sprung the whole cotter pin.  When I was browsing through the drawer of cotter pins at the hardware store they had them in brass, aluminum, stainless, and steel.  I think this one is steel, since it looked like the right size but this size was only available that way.

You Go Yugo....
