I've read recently that lever shots look a lot different than pump driven shots but not having seen them up close I have to ask....

Is this a normal looking lever shot?

It looks very very "clear" to me from this pic.

Hahaha. I have pulled a ton of lever shots and the La Peppina definitely has the most unique post shot puck I have ever seen. I emailed Yakster the night I received the machine and saw the puck post shot. It made me scratch my head quite a bit. The dispersion screen on a Peppina is very unique in that has maybe 20-25 holes that the water comes through. As odd as that sounds, and as odd as the puck looks post shot, I have never seen any signs of channeling in the puck . . . .  which I thought I would see big time. I have pulled maybe 30-35 shots on it to this point and have only seen a small sampling of pucks that look even closely comparable to what I have seen with all of my other levers.

I will fiddle with my camera and try to film some shots from this animal over the weekend. I have never filmed myself . . . . . and I do not have a helmet camera for cycling like Staylor. . . .so the results could be interesting. Maybe I will finally figure out how to use the editing software that came on my mac computer too . . . .

So, Warrior, how goes the La Peppina?

All this talk of breakfast on the other forums reminded me that some have used their open kettle La Peppina for Sous Vide to cook eggs and other items.  I thought about it for about 5 minutes before deciding just to use my PID on the crock pot instead for the one Sous Vide trial I did.  There's just something about cooking food in your boiler that doesn't feel right.

The La Peppina is doing extremely well! I pull 3-4 shots a day on it. It heats up with a full kettle in about 5-6 minutes. The PID on it just does it for me! It is awesome being able to temp profile with a lever.
