cute red visor on the Tin Man...

Finally got everything soaked and cleaned, oiled and lubed for the maiden run.

Started w/ the single basket which is good for about 7-9g.  Tried 2 shots at
7.5g and 8g, both came out with a lil less than 1oz of thin no crema liquid.  Tasted then drank
both (needed the caffeine) neither were nasty nor great, sorta like from a stovetop w/out the nasty bitterness.
Ran out of caffeine tolerance and time after that.

Need to grind finer and/or up the dose?

Perhaps that's the problem,  I don't have a Peppina.

My first experience with spring lever but it did take a couple of pulls to fully fill the cylinder.

Awesome, something I can refer back to next time I get to try again, prob next weekend though so I'm sure it'll keep me awake at night thinking about it.

Didn't even see the alum funnel hiding there.

Watching this makes me want a lever. I am sure part of coarsening it up helps the flavor because the extraction take far longer. I think that shot went on for over a minute.

what got me really curious was among my first few test pulls, they were either
10 sec gushers or 1 minute choker, and none were nasty sour/bitter sink shots that
I wouldn't dare to taste if they came out of the pump machine.  However I'm not getting
enough time behind the lever (couple shots in the weekend) to get up to speed quickly.

nice...

I don't get the chance to use mine frequently but whenever I do, it's almost always the same, i.e. too easy.
10g on the "single" basket and it's spot on every time.  Granted that's w/ a Pharos.

I have a La Peppina, but I haven't used it in about a year. Gonna start using it again once I go back home to pick it up.
I have the bottomless portafilter... It's pretty nice. Great way to assess your grind, tamp, etc.
