Looking to replace my Baratza Maestro
« on: July 18, 2013, 01:25:57 PM »
My Baratza Maestro has now bitten the dust. I am looking to replace it. I am looking to replace it for $200. The grinder will be used only for Drip and French Press. I did see a Virtuoso for $230 at Clives with free shipping. It is $30 over budget. Any suggestions or links to some deals on grinders...Thanks

If you're only using it for drip or press pot, save your money and buy a Baratza Encore.  I just bought one for $122 shipped.

Did the Virtuoso bite the dust?

The Encore was a gift to my pastor and wife, who previously thought spending $35 on a Cuisinart was the be-all end-all.  When that died, I knew there was no way to get them to see the light of true burr grinder than to give them one.  = less time in purgatory, dontcha know?

I still love the Virtuoso, but have to stand in front of it while grinding, and block it from the view of Mr. Compak, lest he becomes jealous.

Ah, the benefit of figuratively moving with Luther from Rome to Saxony.

Keep your eye on the Baratza site for refurbished units. I think they pop up late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. I picked up one off here that did not work properly. In exchange they sent me a brand-new unit and had me send the old one back in the box. I didn't even have to go without a grinder.
