Have a new Behmor 1600 and 20 pounds of green coffee beans now, and no grinder -- Oh My Oh My -what is a avid coffee drinker to do -- and please don't suggest that I go to Starbucks.

Good news is that I have chance to buy new equipment !

Appreciate some ideas on links to reviews or personal favorites.

Just for a starting point, what is the deceased grinder?

What will be your main purpose for grinding? Do you do espresso, vac pot, pour over, drip, french press or other? One grinder does not fit all. Many folks here will give great advice with a bit more information.

Welcome to the club! You'll love it here,  Jim

My Old Grinder was a capresso infinity, and served me well.

I largely do a French press grind, and sometimes drip grind for friends.

Would like keep replacement cost under $300 if possible.

Hope this better refines my question.

Thanks

+1 on the Encore.  I had sent two friends in that direction and they couldn't be more satisfied.

Thanks for excellent feedback.

Was ready to pull the "trigger" on a purchase, but came home and messed with my grinder a little bit more, and got it working.

Maybe on its last leg, or maybe just needed to get cleaned.

So thanks again, and got my notes to act upon when/if it dies again.

Mikey, I'm wondering where you got your facts from, about Baratza and Bodum sharing internals.  Not necessarily doubting you, just wondering.

Actually I shouldn't say that.

There are not to many grinders on the market at that price point that have conical burrs. They looked to be about the same size.

Now comparing them they do share the same wattage however 1 has 35mm burr size while the other has 40mm burr size even though they are both stainless steel. One rotates at 720 rpm while the other does 450 rpm.

When I was on a support call with Baratza the support tech advised me that I had to describe my grinder as there were many manufacters making the grinders. I then found out that my Starbucks grinder was a Solis grinder. This did not stop Baratza providing me with technical support. In fact they carry Solis parts. From that I assumed that Bodum was just another manufacturer that Baratza supported.

I am going to ask the tech in my next email exchange if that is the case. I will clarify.

Note from Baratza online support this morning:

"Dear Java|B,

We are not affiliated with Bodum in any way, they do not use our parts.

Regards..."
